WACO, TEXAS A simple act of kindness by Baylor wide receiver, Denzel Mims caught the attention of thousands of Baylor fans after a father tweeted about his son's experience with Mims.
Miles and Cory Webb tried to go bowling on Friday night, but there weren't any available lanes at the alley. The Baylor football team had rented most of the lanes at the bowling alley.
When the father and son were starting to leave, Baylor wide receiver Denzel Mims stepped in to save the day. He invited them to stay and bowl with the team.
"I saw he was sad and I have a daughter so I was like I would want someone to do that for me and my daughter," Mims said.
Mims's teammates say this is not the first time he does something like this.
Offensive lineman Sam Tecklenburg says Mims is always lending a helping hand and making a difference in the community.
"Denzel does a ton of stuff like that. You have to respect that. I've seen him go to our staff members' kids' football and basketball games. He is always looking to reach out," Tecklenburg said.
What makes this story even sweeter is that MIles and his dad don't bleed green and gold, they bleed burnt orange. They are die-hard Texas Longhorn fans.
“It makes it a little harder to not like Baylor now,” Miles said.
They saw now they have to route for Mims.
A sweet act of kindness that gained Mims to new fans for the Sugar Bowl.
The father, Cory Webb, posted the story on his twitter, and thousands of Baylor fans have shared it on social media.
