Lacy Lakeview: 8-year-old speedster brings home gold

LACY LAKEVIEW, Texas (KWTX) A Central Texas boy who won three gold medals at the AAU Regional Track Meet in Webster has brought home gold from the AAU National 8 and under track meet in Florida.

Germarquis Robinson, 8, led his 4 X 100-meter relay team to a national championship over the weekend.

He placed fifth the 100- and 200-meter races.

He will remain in Florida until July 13 for the National Club Championship.

Robinson, a Marlin native who’s now living in Lacy Lakeview, and his team, called The Dragons, are also headed to the AAU Junior Olympics from July 24 to Aug. 3 in Greensboro, N.C.

The Dragons set a national record for 2019 in the 4 X 100 race.

Robinson began training in his backyard four years ago.

His goal is to compete in the Olympics.
