Belton senior Chandler Garrett has allowed athletics to teach her important lessons
“What I’ve taken from it, I’ve kind of applied to everything, but I’ve also seen those concepts of work ethic in other programs I’m in,” said Garrett.
The future Texas A&M Aggie participates in cross country and is focused this year on advancing to the post season in high jump after being named an alternate a year ago
“I think I’ll have a few more opportunities to place higher and get more points for my team,” said Garrett
And it's that team first mentality that makes Garrett a hit with her coaches
“She’s a positive role model,” said Belton track coach, Holly Lamberte. “And by being a positive role model, they want to be like her, and that kind of excels and brings everybody to the level that she strives to be at.”
Garrett is also a leader in the classroom, ranked 53rd in her class of 655. She participates in student council, is member of national honor society, volunteers with her you group, and is the mc at all of Belton’s pep rally’s
“I think what I like most (about MCing) is that I can transition my energy and love for Belton and show it to my peers and the high school,” Garrett. “And it's just kind of good way to put that on display for the benefit of other people.”
