Classroom Champions: Marlin's Sir Charleston Lee

WACO, Texas (KWTX) With a future as bright as his shoes, Sir Charleston Lee of Marlin hits the field and the books with a purpose.

"I'm shooting to play football at the next level, and hopefully I can get somewhere where I'm going to play at," said senior RB/safety Sir Charleston Lee.

That school could potentially be right down the road in central Texas at UMHB. Ranked in the top five of his class at Marlin, Sir Charleston was recently accepted at Mary Hardin Baylor and wants to major in business administration.

"I feel like academics help me a lot because whatever you do in the classroom, I feel like it transfers over to the field. So if you can pay attention in class, then you can pay attention and learn on the field," added Sir Charleston Lee.

With a 3.9 GPA, Sir Charleston has shown his ability to thrive in the classroom, but his head coach David Haynes has also seen his ability to thrive on the field, and he believes he deserves the chance to fulfill his dream of playing at the college level.

"Man he's a great leader. On the field and in the classroom. He walks down the hall every day with a smile. Positive attitude. Positive leader. Just a great kid to be around. He works hard. Extremely hard. I talked to his mother this weekend, and she said he was out working out on his own. Just out here running. So he's a do right kid. He's a do extra kid. And he's not all about the glory, but he's what you want in a football player," said Marlin head coach Davin Haynes.
