The Cowboys have informed Jason Garrett they will not offer him a new contract in 2020. Team owner/general manager Jerry Jones confirmed the news in an official statement.
“We are extremely grateful to Jason Garrett for his more than 20 years of service to the Dallas Cowboys as a player, assistant coach and head coach,” Jones said. “His level of commitment, character and dedication to this organization has been outstanding at every stage of his career.”
Jay Glazer of Fox Sports was the first to report the news.
This coming after the team finished the season 8-8 and failed to make the playoffs. Garret's current contract ends on Jan. 14th.
The team will begin it's first coaching search since the end of the 2006 season.
