WACO, Texas (Baylor Athletics) Baylor’s Lauren Cox picked up her fourth preseason All-America nod Thursday when the Associated Press honored she and four other players while the WBCA/USA Today Top 25 ranked the Lady Bears No. 2 in its preseason poll.

Cox, the senior forward from Flower Mound, Texas, joined Maryland’s Kalia Charles, Miami’s Beatrice Mompremier, Texas A&M’s Chennedy Carter and Oregon’s Sabrina Ionescu on the exclusive preseason team. It marked the fourth national honor for Cox in the preseason adding to first-team All-America nods from Street & Smith’s, Lindy’s Sports, and Athlon Sports.

Baylor’s third national championship in 2019 was fueled by the two-time Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, Cox, who averaged 13.0 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 3.7 assists in her junior campaign.

The AP released its top 25 poll Wednesday with Baylor at No. 2 also, and the WBCA followed by ranking the Lady Bears behind Oregon as well. BU received 8 of 32 first-place votes in the WBCA poll while the Ducks garnered the other 24.

Baylor’s Big 12 foes Texas and Iowa State also graced the AP Top 25 at 15th and tied for 24th, respectively, while West Virginia and K-State each received votes.
