AUSTIN, Texas (KWTX) The Crawford Lady Pirates are looking to win their third state title in softball, as they advance to the championship game after beating West Sabine 6-5 Wednesday morning.
Crawford jumped out to an early lead in the semi-final game, on a two-run double into the left-center field gap by Makey Dunbar. The Lady Pirates would add another run in the inning, making it 3-0.
West Sabine would come back to add two in the second to make it 3-2.
Things fell apart for the Lady Pirates in the fourth inning when West Sabine scored three runs to take a 5-3 lead.
The Lady Pirates would eventually rally to tie the game at five in the bottom of the fifth. Cambree Aguirre would put the Lady Pirates ahead for good with a single to left that scored Avery Ward, giving the game it's final score of 6-5.
The Lady Pirates will look to win their third state title game in seven years, after winning one in 2012 and another in 2014.
Crawford will take on Thorndale on Thursday (5/30) at 3 p.m.
