“It’s major,” said Gracie Beard, the communications coordinator at the Dr Pepper Museum in Waco.

“It's not a very common thing that we have Dr Pepper do. So it's fun that Baylor is a part of that, especially since Dr. Pepper was invented right here in Waco.”

The bottles were just sent to the Dr Pepper Museum in Waco and Beard says the moment word got out, the phones began to ring.

“We posted it on Instagram and people all over were asking ‘can you ship it to us, can you mail it to us,’” she said.

The bottles are $2.25 apiece and are only available for purchase in person.

The supply is limited and the museum expects them to go quickly.

“They're very popular among our Baylor fans and really our sports fans in general people come from all over to get them.”

This is the third time Dr Pepper has issued a bottle commemorating a Lady Bears national championship.

The first was sold after the team’s first championship win in 2005 and the second in 2012.

But this one may mean more given that the company no longer contracts with the school to sell Dr Pepper products.

“It’s something that Dr Pepper itself picks, so it has to be something deemed as worthy enough and big enough to put on a bottle,” Beard said.

The Lady Bears won the 2019 title in Tampa, FL. when Chloe Jackson hit the game-winning layup with 3.9 seconds left as the Baylor Lady Bears held off the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 82-81 in the NCAA Tournament championship game.
