Fairfield girls basketball team dancing its way to the 4A semifinals

FAIRFIELD, Texas (KWTX) With a state championship berth a possibility, the Fairfield girls basketball team has been putting in some work.

But it's not just for their 4A semifinal matchup with Dallas Lincoln set for Friday. Before that showing, they've got another one Thursday morning -- a pep rally dancing performance.

"There's two (teammates) that aren't going to do it because they think they can't dance but the ones that are doing it, they're pretty committed to it," senior Kayelee Adams said. "We all like to dance on the team, so it's kind of a fun thing for us."

Adams and Jada Clark started some routines for fun on the app Tik Tok. Then other players on the team decided to join in on the team-bonding activity. They enjoy it so much, they'll hype the pep rally crowd up with their own routine.

"That's who they are and that's what's made them successful," Fairfield head coach Sally Whitaker said. "Sometimes as a head coach, it's hard to let them be who they are. You want them to be a certain way, but they are who they are and they're pretty good at it."

Fairfield (33-4) will play Dallas Lincoln at 1:30 p.m. Friday in San Antonio.
