Golf legend Tom Watson joins troops at Fort Hood tournament
Fort Hood golfers playing in Friday morning's tournament got an extra special treat, a golf clinic by golf legend and 8-time major champion Tom Watson.
The Feherty's Troops First Foundation hosted the event for golfers on base. A part of the event was a golf clinic from Watson. Watson spent time on proper grip, hitting shots low and under the wind, and chipping. He says he hopes that his tips may have helped just ten percent of the golfers at the event.
Watson also mixed in some humor for the golfers on hand, at one point after a good shot saying, "what did you expect from a 5-time British Open champion."
The golfers also heard from three wounded warriors prior to the tournament including Medal of Honor recipient Leroy Petry who told his story and encouraged soldiers to take a pledge for the Warrior Call initiative.
