Harker Heights defeats Ellison in overtime

KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) Jamie Vargas connected on a 33-yard field goal in overtime to give the Harker Heights Knights a 24-21 win over the Ellison Eagles Thursday night.

Ellison (2-4, 2-2 District 12-6A) found the scoreboard first when Davoriun Thompson recovered a fumble and returned it 42 yards for a touchdown.

After a couple field goals by Vargas to cut the Ellison lead to 7-6, Breezion Spiller tacked on a 1-yard touchdown run for the Eagles to give them a 14-6 lead going into halftime.

Harker Heights (2-4, 2-2 District 12-6A) recovered an onside kick to start the second half and then made it a one-point game again with a touchdown pass from Shaun West to Jaron Millender.

Damashja Harris' 43-yard touchdown run extended Ellison's lead to 21-13 midway through the third quarter, but Heights' running back Princeton Dixon scored a touchdown with four seconds left, which set up a two-point conversion to send the game to overtime.
