WACO, Texas MCC standout Josh Breaux has excited the Highlanders' program without doing anything this week, it's what the New York Yankees did when they selected Breaux in the second round of the MLB Draft. That pick is an improvement of 34 rounds from just a year ago.
MCC baseball coach Mitch Thompson says he is thrilled to see Breaux get this opportunity after all that he's done at MCC. "I couldn't be happier for Josh he's earned every bit of it and what a great kid, a hard worker, a great teammate, just an unbelievable kid, you know his physical tools are one thing but his mental makeup is the thing that I think separates him and makes every club that visited with him fall in love with him as a player."
Breaux was MCC's best hitter in 2017 and then again in 2018. He hit over .400 in both seasons, had 19 home runs as a freshman and 18 as a sophomore. Thompson says he also made great strides behind the plate defensively.
Breaux had signed with Arkansas but will now forego that opportunity to play in the Yankees' organization.
