The La Vega Pirates stayed perfect and stayed alive in the postseason with a 28-18 win over district foe Liberty Hill on Friday.

The Pirates used their outstanding running game to punish Liberty Hill. Kemoche Hobbs scored a pair of first half touchdowns on great runs. Then John Richards added two in the second half to put the game away for the Pirates.

La Vega stays perfect with the win and moves to 14-0 this season overall. The win also ties La Vega quarterback Jamal Williams with Roshauud Paul for the all-time wins mark by a quarterback in Texas with 47. If Williams leads La Vega to a state semifinal win over Carthage next week, he'll own the record outright.
