Lady Bears face #1 UConn Thursday in Waco

Kim Mulkey had high praise for the Lady Bears' next opponent on Wednesday when she spoke about UConn. Mulkey praised head coach Geno Auriemma and his team and called the Huskies the best team in the country.

All of this just over 24 hours from Mulkey's Lady Bears taking the court in the Ferrell Center to face UConn in a non-conference showdown. Mulkey says the top two players for the Huskies are a nightmare to guard. Katie Lou Samuelson and Napheesa Collier are the players that set the tone for UConn and Mulkey says they play with a fluidity that makes them really tough to slow down.

Meanwhile, Mulkey says this is an opportunity for her players to get a big win but the big picture isn't this game, it's what lies just after the top ten showdown. Mulkey and her team will open conference play on the road over the weekend. Mulkey says whatever happens against UConn cannot and will not deter her team from playing well in that Big 12 opener at Texas Tech.

Baylor and UConn will tip off at 8pm Thursday night in Waco.
