MCC baseball connections aplenty for 2019 College World Series

WACO, Texas (KWTX) It's been almost a month since McLennan baseball's season ended, but the collegiate baseball season for some MCC connections are still going.

Bailey Horn, who won two state championships at West High School, had his best performance for the Auburn Tigers in the Regional round against Georgia Tech.

The lefty picked up the win after a season-high six shutout innings, four strikeouts, and only two hits allowed. Even though he lasted just 3.1 innings in a 2-0 loss to North Carolina in the Super Regionals, his Tigers advanced to Omaha and will play Mississippi State Sunday night.

Dave Van Horn was an All-American for MCC in the early 1980s. Now the head coach at Arkansas, his Razorbacks were one out -- and one foul-ground catch -- from a championship last year.

The Hogs' hitting coach, Nate Thompson, is the brother of current Highlanders' head coach Mitch Thompson.

Texas Tech is the only Big 12 team left. Dylan Neuse played with Bailey Horn in Waco a year ago. The Red Raiders' outfielder is currently hitting .307, leads Tech with six triples, and is third on the team with eight home runs.

Arkansas and Texas Tech are both in Bracket 1 of the College World Series, but will begin their run in Omaha on Saturday against different opponents -- Michigan and Florida State, respectively.
