MCC heads to Region V tournament as a favorite

WACO, Texas Despite forfeiting four games due to an ineligible player this week, the MCC baseball team heads to the Region V tournament as one of the favorites to win the title.

MCC is one of the top five ranked teams in the nation in the Juco polls. The Highlanders have put together a really solid season. That season took a small hit when the Highlanders had to forfeit four games due to an ineligible player this week. That player dropped a class and was no longer a full-time student because of that action.

So MCC is the #2 seed out of their conference instead of the #1 seed. That changes where they are in the bracket but not their expectations. Mitch Thompson says he likes his team, their depth, and his pitching staff. So he's confident they can go out to San Angelo and get the job done this weekend.

The Highlanders open the tournament on Friday morning with a 10am game against Howard.
