McGregor ISD Hires New Athletic Director and Head Football Coach

MCGREGOR, TX. (McGregor ISD Press Release) McGregor ISD will be working together with its new
Athletic Director and Head Football Coach, Judd Thrash, to make an exciting new season of athletic success a reality for its students at H.G. Isbill Jr. High and McGregor High School in 2017 and beyond.

The McGregor School Board announced the hiring of Thrash during its
Tuesday, March 7th board meeting. "The athletic director and head football coach search process was a challenging endeavor, and I
would like to publicly thank the committee members who participated in the process and the numerous Bulldog fans who supported the effort," said Dr. Frank Graves, McGregor ISD Board President.

Thrash will replace Tim Seward, who served eleven years as athletic director and will return to administration duties in the district, according to Kevin Houchin, superintendent of McGregor ISD.

"I am honored and humbled to join the McGregor Family," said Thrash. "I can't thank Mr. Houchin and McGregor ISD enough for this incredible opportunity. McGregor football has been and always will be a great program in the state of the Texas. McGregor is an excellent school
district with a history of academic and athletic success. I am excited to get started."

Thrash, who began his coaching career in 2005 at Kaufman High School, brings 12 years of coaching experience to McGregor ISD. He has the distinction of helping previous high school football teams to two 4A State Championships, two "7 on 7" State Championships, and six
District championships.

Thrash will be coming from the Dallas-Fort Worth area where he served from 2014 to 2016 as the assistant head football coach and defensive coordinator for Colleyville Heritage High School. From 2010 to 2013, Thrash helped the Cavaliers make Texas history by winning five
state championships in a row during has three-year tenure as varsity secondary coach at Lake Travis High School.

Thrash spent 2009 as the varsity secondary coach at Stony Point High School in Round Rock where the Tigers finished 13-2 as the district champs and became a state semi-finalist.

At Stony Point, Thrash coached two Division I players: Kevin White, who later played at Texas Christian University, and Desmond Martin, who played at Texas Tech.White currently plays corner for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the National Football League.

From 2006 to 2009, Thrash played an instrumental role in opening Rockwall-Heath High School and developing a new football program there. From 2000 to 2005, Thrash played cornerback for the Texans at Tarleton State University, which three conference championships and played in three national playoff games.

Thrash earned his B.S. in Exercise and Sports Studies from Tarleton State University in 2004 and his master's degree in Education Administration from Tarleton State University in 2008. Thrash finished his superintendent course work through the University of Texas at Tyler in 2011.

Thrash will take over as athletic director and head football coach in March, and will oversee the various McGregor athletic departments which include baseball, basketball, cross-country, football, golf, powerlifting, softball, tennis, track, and volleyball.
