Nebraska scores a dozen to beat Baylor in series opener

WACO, Texas The Baylor baseball team gave up 12 runs to the visitors from Nebraska in a 12-4 series opening loss Friday night at Baylor Ballpark.

The Cornhuskers were led by the powerful bat of Angelo Altavilla who hit a pair of home runs for Nebraska in the winning effort. He helped start the scoring early as the Cornhuskers took a 4-0 lead.

Baylor cut into that lead thanks to junior college transfer Mack Mueller who drove in a run with a 2nd inning double.

Nebraska answered with another run to make it 5-1 in the 5th off a Luke Roskam RBI single. That was enough for Nebraska who added seven more to close out a 12-4 win.

Baylor and Nebraska will play two more this weekend at Baylor Ballpark.
