ARLINGTON, Texas Former Baylor Bear Davis Wendzel and former Texas Tech Red Raider Josh Jung have both signed their deals with the Texas Rangers. The team introduced both of their first round picks to the media on Wednesday prior to their game with the Angels.
Wendzel said the day after the draft that he was excited to be taken by the Rangers. He reiterated that again on Wednesday. Wendzel is a California native but loves to hunt and fish and said that he came to Texas for a reason and wanted to stay. He says being drafted by the Rangers is exactly what he was hoping for and he's ready to get to work and play in their system.
Wendzel and Jung have both been primarily third basemen during their collegiate careers but both are versatile and can play other positions.
