Reicher softball moves to state final, Lorena and Belton fall

WACO, Texas The softball playoffs gave us a mix of good and bad news in Central Texas Wednesday night as the Reicher girls won to move into the TAPPS championship game while two other teams lost in their series openers.

Reicher Catholic beat Lubbock Christian in the TAPPS state semifinals and that 4-1 win moves Reicher into the state title game Thursday. Reicher will play at 1pm Thursday in Crosby, Texas for the title.

In the UIL playoffs, Belton fell to Klein Collins 3-2 in their series opener. Belton led much of the night but a late Klein Collins rally earned them a win and put Belton on the brink of elimination in the series.

Lorena never led against Hargrave in their opening game and lost 4-2. The loss for the Lady Leopards means Lorena will need to win both of the next two games to keep their season alive and advance to the regional finals.
