Ridgewood Country Club is the site of this year's Texas Golf Association Super Senior Amateur Championship tournament that began on Tuesday.

Ridgewood has been trying to play host to an event of this nature for a few years now, and hard work by the management and membership has now paid off. PGA Professional James Williams, Jr. says it took a lot of work to bring the championship to Waco and they are thrilled the TGA has come. Ridgewood will also host the TGA's Senior Amateur Championship next year in September.

Round one was played with no rain and scores were pretty good for the leaders. Ed Brooks of Fort Worth leads after shooting a one under par 69 in the opening round. Ridgewood member Bob Ammon is in a third place tie after shooting a 72.

The tournament continues Wednesday if the weather allows, the final round is on Thursday.
