WACO, Texas (KWTX) Heisman Trophy winner and Baylor football legend Robert Griffin III returned to Baylor to host his first annual Quarterback Academy.
Athletes from the 6th to 12th grade were able to attend the passing academy. The young athletes were then put through drills by Griffin III as well as current Baylor coaches and players, including Baylor QB Charlie Brewer. After the drills, the campers were then put through a film session with RG3 himself.
Griffin III stated that this camp has been in the works since Baylor head coach Matt Rhule was hired in 2017. Griffin also stated that even though none of the coaches are the same as when he left for the NFL he felt it was time to come back home and give back to his school....
"It's difficult to come back when you don't really know what that reception is going to be like, but coach Rhule, to his credit has always tried to make me feel like I’m a part,” said Griffin III. “And that was important for me to come back and reconnect with Baylor in a way that can be beneficial to everybody. And like i said this is home and I did a lot of great things here with the guys that I had. And I just wanted to go back and make that relationship look great.”
Griffin III also made it know that he hopes to continue this camp for decades.
