WACO, Texas (KWTX) Tate Samuelson had three hits, and Nick DiCarlo came through with the eventual game-winning, two-run single in Cal Poly's 3-1 win over Baylor Saturday afternoon.
Cal Poly (7-10) opened the scoring with Noah Taylor's RBI single in the first inning off Baylor starter Jimmy Winston.
Baylor (12-5) tied it in the bottom of the fifth. Cole Haring, who led off the inning with a double, stole third base and then scored because of an errant throw on the same play.
DiCarlo's clutch hit came in the next half inning.
The rubber game between Baylor and Cal Poly Sunday is set for 1:05 p.m.
