TWO-A-DAYS: Lampasas looking for a step forward in 2017

The Lampasas Badgers are ready to put last year's 1-9 mark in the rear-view mirror.

The Badgers lost several close contests in head coach Troy Rogers' first year and missed out on the postseason for the fifth year in a row.

Lampasas will enter this season with eight starters returning and another year of experience in Coach Rogers' system under their belts.

A return to the postseason won't be a cakewalk by any means, however. La Vega, China Spring, Liberty Hill, Gatesville and Burnet are what the Badgers have to look forward to once they get to district play.

That would phase some teams, but Coach Rogers actually views it as a blessing.

"To me it's exciting, because if you can win games in our district, and you can get into the playoffs, you have a great chance of winning games in the playoffs, because you're playing the best of the best."

He continued.

"You know, if you want to be the best, you have to beat the best, and that's what we're trying to get. We want to get to the point where we're beating these guys, and people are worried about playing Lampasas."
