WACO, Texas (polygon.com, YouTube.com) Talk to ten different people and they are likely to give you ten different predictions for Super Bowl 53 between the Los Angeles Rams and the New England Patriots.
However, one prediction online isn't from a person at all. Every year for the past nine years, the YouTube channel "Tecmo Super Bowl" runs a simulation of the 1991 video game of the same name.
This year, the simulation just so happened to predict that L.A. Rams and former Baylor linebacker Bryce Hager would score the game winning touchdown on a fumble recovery and return.
In the video "Super Bowl 53 According to Tecmo...you wont believe how it ends." skip ahead to the 16:30 mark in the video and you can see Jared Goff fail to convert on 4th and 16 with 1:05 left to play and the Rams down 21-17.
The Patriots get the ball back with 55 seconds left to play and the simulation chooses to run the ball and burn the clock. After the run, with 39 seconds left, the simulation chooses to throw the ball. Tom Brady finds Phillip Dorsett with 28 seconds left and Dorsett fumbles!!! Bryce Hager scoops the ball up and runs the ball in from 34 yards out for the game winning score!
Rams win Super Bowl LIII 24-21.
It will be interesting to see how accurate the prediction is come Sunday.
