Troy falls to Grandview 7-1 in regional quarterfinal series opener

WEST, Texas The Troy Trojans ran into a hot pitcher and an opportunistic Grandview offense Wednesday in a 7-1 loss to open their best of three playoff series.

Grandview rallied to score 4 runs in the bottom of the third inning to build a 4-0 lead. The runs were a product of a lot of small ball by the Zebras. Infield hits, errors, and some timely bunting allowed them to score four runs in the frame.

Troy answered in the top of the fourth inning with a double by Kadin Workman and then an RBI single by Jordan Cotanny to drive Workman home. That cut the lead to 4-1.

Grandview responded with the final three runs of the game after that brief Troy rally and earned the 7-1 win.

Troy will now need to win both of the remaining games to win the series.
