Wendzel's walk-off RBI single lifts Baylor over Oklahoma State
Davis Wendzel's only hit in four at-bats turned into the one Baylor needed most in the Bears' 6-5 win over Oklahoma State Friday night.
West Virginia first baseman Marques Inman, who had all five RBIs for the Mountaineers, opened the scoring with a two-run home run in the first inning before adding a three-run double in the fifth.
Baylor (14-6) trailed 5-3 going into the bottom of the seventh, when Wendzel produced his first of two RBIs on the night -- a sac fly to cut the deficit to 5-4.
Josh Bissonette's RBI single in the eighth tied the game at 5-5. The Baylor second baseman also led off the second with a triple and scored a run on Nick Loftin's sac fly.
The Bears' other two runs came in the bottom of the first inning. After Richard Cunningham's RBI triple, Andy Thomas brought him home on an RBI groundout.
Mountaineers center fielder Brandon White, who crashed hard into the left-center field wall attempting to catch Cunningham's triple, stayed down on the ground for minutes before eventually returning to the game.
White and Inman each had three hits for West Virginia (13-8).
Game two of the three-game series is set for Saturday at 1:05 p.m.
