$1 million Mega Millions ticket bought in Texas expires in a week

AUSTIN, Texas (KWTX) Whoever purchased what turned out to be a winning $1 million ticket for the New Year’s Day Mega Millions drawing has just more than a week to claim the prize.

The ticket purchased at a 7-Elevens tore in Richardson matched all five of the white ball numbers drawn (34-44-57-62-70), the Megaplier number (4), but not the Mega Ball number (14).

To claim the prize, the buyer must present the ticket at a Texas Lottery claim center by June 28 or must mail the ticket prior to the June 30 expiration date.

“We encourage our Mega Millions players to take another look at their ticket, check the numbers again and if your numbers match, sign the back of the ticket and contact us,” said Gary Grief, executive director of the Texas Lottery.

Lottery winners have 180 days in which to claim a prize for a draw game, although the deadline may be extended for certain eligible military personnel.

Prizes that go unclaimed revert to the state for programs the Texas Legislature has authorized.
