CALDWELL, Texas (KWTX) The Caldwell ISD canceled classes Monday because of a flu outbreak.

“Our numbers are continuing to increase with confirmed cases of flu in the students and the staff members,” Superintendent Andrew Peters said in a letter to parents.

“Currently we have over 15 percent of the district student body absent for sickness.”

The district will use the day to deep clean and disinfect, he said.

The Teague ISD canceled all classes last Friday and on Monday because of a flu outbreak, Superintendent Chris Skinner announced Thursday.

Schools will reopen next Tuesday, he said.

“During this time we will sanitize the entire district,” he said.

All sanctioned UIL events will continue as scheduled, but Teague Elementary School’s Veterans Day program will be rescheduled for Tuesday.
