TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) The Temple ISD joined the Belton ISD in announcing plans Monday for an outdoor graduation.
Temple ISD Superintendent Dr. Bobby Ott made the announcement Monday
in a video posted on the district’s website.
The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor has agreed to allow the district to hold its commencement at 7:30 p.m. on June 12 at its stadium.
The district, however, also announced that a prom and backup graduation scheduled at the Bell Expo Center have been canceled.
Each of Temple’s graduating seniors will be provided with admission tickets for two family members.
Family members who live in the same household may sit together in the stadium’s seats and will be distanced from other families.
Graduates will sit on the field, each of them six feet apart from their classmates.
Video of the ceremony will be recorded and will later be broadcast on the City of Temple’s cable TV channel.
School officials will present diplomas, but will not shake hands with the graduates who cross the stage.
Officials are strongly advising that graduates and visitors wear both masks and gloves.
