Arrest made in murder of local motel owner

TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) Investigators made an arrest over the weekend in an attack at a Temple motel that claimed the life of the motel’s 44-year-old owner.

Temple police said they arrested Montreal Wright, 29, Saturday night during a traffic stop.

The officer conducting the stop recognized Wright and knew there was a warrant out for his arrest/

Officers found Manish Patel severely injured after responding just before 3:50 a.m. on Feb. 12 to the Econo Lodge at 1001 North General Bruce Dr. in Temple.

“Detectives found that the victim had been assaulted by an individual who subsequently left the scene,” police spokeswoman Ellen Morton said in a press release at the time.

Patel was taken to Scott & White Medical Center where he died.

Online records indicated Wright remained in the Bell County Jail on a murder charge with bonds totaling $500,000.
