WACO, Texas (KWTX) A dueling pianos performance at the Hippodrome in Waco Saturday night brought the crowd to its feet, when the performers held a surprise tribute to veterans.

If you haven't attended one of these before two talented pianists play your favorite hits from country to rock and everything between.

They take requests and one of those was God Bless the USA.

Former Veterans One Stop director DeLisa Russell requested it for her husband Michael who is a veteran.

Musicians David Morris and Mark Johnson invited all the veterans and active duty service members up to the stage to be honored.

Members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard past and present were invited to the stage.

One by one they filed up to the stage and stood reverently.

Looking around the room it was clear this was an emotional experience: equal parts pride and tears.

And it was an extra special day for Rolando Hernandez who was celebrating his birthday.

The Marine veteran is a member of the Marine Corps League and you've seen him on KWTX talking about issues in the veteran community.

So David and Mark also played the Marines' Hymm.

It was a reminder that it doesn't need to be national holiday to express gratitude for our veterans and active duty members of the military, not just with words but with actions.

If you have served or are serving please know Central Texans are grateful.
