BELTON, Texas (KWTX) Investigators hope an autopsy will help identify a body found in the rubble after a weekend house fire in Belton.

A 911 caller reported smoke and embers at around 3:40 a.m. Saturday in the 4600 block of Toll Bridge Road and the first crews on the scene found a house engulfed in flames a quarter mile off of Toll Bridge, Belton spokesman Paul Romer said.

The body was sent to the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences for autopsy, he said.

A preliminary investigation determined the cause of the fire was accidental/undetermined, Romer said.

Firefighters from the Belton Salado, Central Bell County Fire & Rescue and Sparta Fire departments responded.
