BELL COUNTY, Texas (KWTX) Bell County Sheriff's Department investigator, Donny Lohman, Jr., recently attended the United States Secret Service, National Computer Forensics Institute and returned with thousands of dollars in high-tech equipment for his department.

The training and technology will help extract data from computers and cell phones of criminals or victims, to help investigations.

Lohman says having the technology in house will drastically change the time it takes to complete investigations.

"There's no waiting time anymore for us,” he said.

“Before you would submit (evidence) to the Department of Public Safety lab and it could be six months before you ever got anything back. But now I can do it within a day or two," Lohman, said.

The equipment will not only help the Bell County Sheriff's Department, but surrounding agencies as well.

"If you think you're safe and you're deleting all your information well you better want to think again because Donny Lohman can now find almost anything on any device." Sheriff Eddy Lange said at a press conference Tuesday.

"We are going to urge all local law-enforcement agencies to take advantage of his training if they have any need for us to do any forensic work when it comes to electronics we are here,” Lange said.
