COPPERAS COVE, Texas (KWTX) Bond was set at $100,000 for a man who was charged with intoxication manslaughter after a deadly crash Saturday evening in Copperas Cove.

Daniel Christopher Burcham, 31, fled after the two-vehicle accident at around 6:40 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of West Business Highway 190 that claimed the life of Robert Bikoski, but witnesses later spotted him crossing the street, police said in a press release Monday.

When officers found him, his “speech was slurred and he appeared to be under the influence of intoxicants,” police said.

Bikoski wasn’t breathing when officers and paramedics arrived, police said.

“Officers and EMS personnel performed life saving measures on Robert, but he succumbed to his injuries,” police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
