TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) Dozens of residents sat in the parking lot Wednesday night outside of Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, honking their cars’ horns in support of the hospital staff hard at work inside.

The visitors appeared to stay in their cars, following social distancing guidelines while holding up signs and flashing lights.

They paid a parking lot visit to McLane's Children's hospital as well.

Ari Munoz was in the hospital caring for her baby in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit during the round of honking.

"All the nurses started saying wow look outside, people are honking and praying," Munoz said.

She says staff then posted signs in the window saying "Thank you for the prayers, please pray for our moms and babies".

The kind gesture brightened everyone's mood inside the hospital, according to Munoz.

Her son has been in the NICU for 12 weeks and due to COVID-19 restrictions, can now only visit her baby alone.

She says they could use all the prayers they can get.
