WACO, Texas (KWTX) November is a month of activities and events in Central Texas and across the state, all meant to honor veterans.
Many Central Texans will be gathering on Veterans Day, Sunday, Nov. 11, for the Bells of Peace ceremony recognizing the 100 year anniversary of the end of World War I.
The Armistice ceremony is happening at 11 a.m. on south steps of the state capitol building in Austin.
Then Monday, Nov. 12, the Waco Veterans Day parade starts at 11 a.m. along Austin Ave. in downtown Waco.
It's billed as the largest in the country with more than 170 entries.
A local VFW will provide lunch at the Veterans One Stop following the parade.
Friday, Nov. 16 the Veterans One Stop is hosting its Thanksgiving dinner for veterans and their families at 11 a.m.
The One Stop is located at 2010 LaSalle in Waco.
Park next door at the drive-in and transportation will be provided to the door.
