WACO, Texas (KWTX) Keeping law and order on a base of 20,000 people: that's the job of one Waco man who went on to become a master-at-arms in the U.S. Navy.
Chief Petty Officer Tyler Thompson serves at Naval Station Great Lakes in Illinois.
It's home to the Navy's only boot camp and Thompson is responsible for law enforcement, regulating duties, security, and force protection, eventually rising to the rank of chief after graduating high school in 2003.
Thompson says making chief is the pinnacle of an enlisted sailor's career, and he credits his Waco upbringing for his professional and personal success.
Thompson said in Waco he learned to work hard, never give up, help others, be honest and humble and stay true to his values.
