BELTON, Texas (KWTX) Santiago Vasquez, 86, of Killeen, who was convicted in May of killing his 80-year-old neighbor in 2017, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison.

The shooting that claimed the life of John Wesley Seth, Jr., of Killeen was the result of a dispute that had simmered for years, police said at the time.

The shooting was reported at around 3:10 p.m. on May 30, 2017 in the 600 block of Bream Circle off Fishpond Lane near Ellison High School.

A witness told an investigator that Vasquez knocked Seth to the ground when he struck him twice with his cane and then, after Seth got up, shot him three times, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

Officers found Seth’s body in the street on Fishpond.

Vasquez was arrested at the scene.

Seth died of gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen.
