Central Texas man indicted for one shooting arrested for a second

TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) Marcus Laron Mayes, Jr., 21, of Temple, who was indicted in December in connection with one shooting was back in jail Thursday charged in connection with a second.

Temple police arrested Mayes on Wednesday at a home in the 3800 block of Mockingbird Lane.

He’s charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with a shooting early on May 8 in Temple that sent one person to a local hospital.

The shooting was reported near Jones Park in the 1100 block of West Avenue H.

The unidentified victim was taken to Scott & White Medical Center with what police said were non-life-threatening injuries.

An arrest warrant was issued Saturday.

Mayes was named in an indictment in December charging aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with a shooting on Nov. 6 at West Avenue M and South 17th Street in Temple.

The victim, whose name has not been released, suffered what police said were non-life-threatening injuries.

Mayes’ bonds total more than $600,000.
