Belton: Teen arrested in shooting that left local boy, 15, dead

BELTON, Texas (KWTX) Belton police made an arrest Friday in a shooting that claimed the life of Belton High School student Joshua Allen Reyner, 15.

John Ryan Osborn, 18, of rural Belton was booked into the Bell County Jail, police said in a press release.

He’s charged with murder.

His name did not appear on the jail’s online roster Friday evening.

Reyner collapsed on the night of Jan. 2 after entering through the front door of the place he was staying, police said.

He was taken to Scott & White Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Officers responded to the shooting at around 8 p.m. Jan. 2 in the 1600 block of South Wall Street.

Neighbors reported hearing two gunshots.

Services for the teen are Saturday.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel at 503 North Main St. in Belton.

The funeral service is at noon Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has established a Justice for Josh GoFundMe campaign to raise money for Belton ISD special education programs.
