COPPERAS COVE, Texas (KWTX) About 50 customers in Copperas Cove still need to have their natural gas service restored, almost a week after a citywide outage, Atmos said Wednesday.

“Since these customers were not at home, our highly trained technicians have left a door tag with instructions that detail the service restoration process,” Atmos spokeswoman Celina Cardenas Fleites said in a press release Wednesday.

An unspecified problem that developed as scheduled maintenance was performed at an Atmos facility on March 5 in Copperas Cove led to the citywide shutdown.

The company’s claims adjusters are working with residential and commercial customers affected by the outage.

Technicians have been going door-to-door to restore service for affected customers.

Atmos employees have identification badges displaying the technicians’ names and photographs and the Atmos logo, the company said.

A resident 18 or older must be present.

Customers with questions may call the Atmos Energy customer contact center at 888.286.6700.

Residents who smell natural gas should leave the area immediately and then call 911 and the Atmos emergency number at 866.322.8667.
