Copperas Cove: Former mayor dies at 84

COPPERAS COVE, Texas (KWTX) A former mayor of Copperas Cove has died at the age of 84.

Forrest (Jim) French, who died last Thursday, served for 20 years in the Army before retiring from Fort Hood.

After retirement he entered public service, and served on the City Council from 1977-1985.

He then served as mayor from 1985 to 1990.

French also served oversaw planning and rezoning, was director of the Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce Director from 1990-1992, as well as EDC CEO from 1992-1994.

Visitation and rosary will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home at 211 West Avenue B in Copperas Cove.

Funeral Mass is at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church at 1001 Georgetown Rd. in Copperas Cove.

Burial follows at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
