COPPERAS COVE, Texas (KWTX) The Copperas Cove ISD Wednesday announced that schools will remain closed through April 3, two weeks longer than originally planned.
“Our health officials report that cases are continuing to spread in neighboring counties, and the increased possibility of cases in Coryell County seems likely,” the district said in a letter to parents.
“Suspending operations for this length of time will allow us to determine, in coordination with state and local officials, whether the virus is continuing to have community spread or whether it has been contained.”
Officials plan to provide an update on the district’s plans on April 1 and in the meantime schools are providing instructional packets and grab-and-go meals.
Meals and instructional packets may be picked up at Hattie Halstead Elementary School at 910 North Main St.; Fairview/Miss Jewell Elementary at 710 South 5th St., and Mae Stevens Early Learning Academy at 302 Manning Dr. Breakfast service from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and lunch service from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Instructional packets may be picked up from 7 a.m. 10 a.m., 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
