COPPERAS COVE, Texas (KWTX) The City of Copperas Cove and Bethesda Fellowship Ministries packed more than 300 boxes of food items as part of their 12th annual Holiday Uplift on Friday afternoon.

The boxes will be packed with turkeys before they’re passed out door-to-door throughout certain neighborhoods in Copperas Cove and Killeen Saturday.

The food has been collected over the course of the entire year.

Bishop R. Ray Gatewood said that it’s important to give back to the community all year round, but especially around Christmas.

“We have a biblical mandate to be an assistance to the community,” he said.

“It’s important to remember that while it’s a struggle for some families to set food on the table during the year, it’s even more difficult for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We’re just here to lend a helping hand.”
