Killeen: Crews battle grass fire that spread to auto salvage yard

KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) Crews were battling a smoky grassfire Tuesday afternoon that spread to vehicles in an auto salvage yard in Killeen.

Few details were immediately available, but initial reports indicated that a half dozen or more vehicles were on fire at National Auto Salvage at 10050 Trimmier Rd. in Killeen.

Smoke from the fire was visible for several miles.

According to Peter Perez, the emergency manager for the city of Killeen, the call came in around 3:30 p.m.

There were no victims and no injuries.

The Killeen Public Works assisted in putting the fire out. Separating each of the cars and spraying them down individually.

Four stations and 10 firetrucks were at the scene.

The fire was contained between 4:30 and 4:45 p.m.

No cause has been determined, yet.

The Killeen Fire Department is leading the investigation.
