Driver speeds off after traffic stop, car crashes at local intersection

KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) A driver who sped off after an attempted traffic stop Wednesday morning in Killeen led officers on a chase that ended abruptly when the car he was driving crashed.

Officers attempted to pull the black sedan over for a traffic violation at around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Priest Drive and 2nd Street, police said.

The driver refused to stop, sped south on Florence Road and then into Harker Heights before reversing course and heading back into Killeen where the car crashed at the intersection of West Veterans Memorial Boulevard and 2nd Street, police said.

He tried to run, but was captured without incident.

The suspect’s name was not immediately released.
