COPPERAS COVE, Texas (KWTX) An early-morning crash Friday on the U.S. Highway 190/Interstate 14 bypass south of Copperas Cove involving an 18-wheeler and a 2002 Ford passenger car left a woman dead.

The accident happened at around 6:30 a.m. Monday when a westbound Hyundai sedan crossed into the eastbound lanes on the long bridge and struck the 18-wheeler head-on.

The car’s driver was flown to a local hospital with what police described as “apparent severe injuries.”

The bypass was closed from the split with Business 190 east of Copperas Cove to the intersection of FM 2657/Business 190 on the west side of the city while a crew from the Texas Department of Transportation repaired damage caused by the crash.
