WACO, Texas (KWTX) A former Waco elementary school teacher was sentenced to 60 years in prison Tuesday after he was indicted in February 2018 on 12 counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of promotion of child pornography.

Jeremy Adler, 36, was arrested on Jan. 25, 2018 in Woodway following a state child pornography investigation.

The sentence is the maximum possible for the offense, McLennan County District Attorney’s Office spokesman Tom Needham said.

Adler taught at Cedar Ridge Elementary School in Waco, but resigned shortly after his arrest, police said in a press release.

During the course of the investigation, authorities found images of nude young girls in suggestive poses and determined that they had been uploaded to an IP address that belonged to Adler, according to an affidavit for a search warrant for Adler's home and electronic devices.

Investigators obtained an earlier warrant on Jan. 10, 2018 that authorized a search of Adler’s gmail account, which produced not only Waco ISD documents, but also a compilation of searches that included “young taboo sex,” “young taboo breeders,” and “young nudists,” the affidavit says.

“These are deeply disturbing allegations,” Waco ISD spokesman Kyle DeBeer said in a press release after the arrest.

“We are working closely with state law enforcement officials to support their investigation. As of today, Mr. Adler is not a Waco ISD employee, and he will not be allowed back on our campuses under any circumstance.”

Officers served a warrant on Jan. 25, 2018 at Adler's home at 1100 Wester Oaks Dr. stemming from an investigation that started after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerted the Texas Attorney General’s Office that pornographic images of children had been uploaded to devices at the address, police said.

Investigators from the Attorney General’s Office and Woodway officers arrested Adler “after images of sexually exploited minors were found on his electronic devices,” police said.

The Waco ISD said it “has no reason to believe that Adler’s alleged behavior involved Waco ISD students.”

Authorities advised the district of the arrest early on the morning of Jan. 25, 2018.

District officials took steps to secure Adler's classroom.

Adler worked as a tutor at Lake Air Montessori Magnet School during the 2015-2016 school year and as a teaching intern and substitute at Lake Air and Brook Avenue Elementary School during the 2016-2017 school year, the district said.

He started teaching at Cedar Ridge in April 2017, the district said.
