Temple: Firefighters rescue pets from burning home; 6 residents displaced

TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) Firefighters were able to rescue several pets after responding to a house fire late Thursday morning in Temple, but the blaze displaced four adults and two children.

Two of the adult residents were home when the fire broke out at around 11:15 a.m. Thursday.

They smelled smoke and called 911.

Both escaped without injury.

Smoke was showing when the first crews arrived and a fire in a rear bedroom was quickly extinguished, officials said.

There were no working smoke alarms in the home, officials said.

The cause is under investigation.
